The Bull:
Fans and the industry were ecstatic to learn that superstar Salman Khan and trailblazing producer Karan Johar were collaborating on a movie called Bull. The fact that Vishnuvardhan of Shershaah (2011) fame will be directing it only served to heighten the excitement. Unfortunately, the endeavour was a failure. Some sources state that it has undergone a rewrite. According to some reports, Salman left the project because he and Karan couldn’t agree on the former’s acting pay. Bull would have been released on Eid 2025 if it had been produced. Salman has now provided the dates for the next film starring Sajid Nadiadwala and A R Murugadoss, which opens in theatres on the holy next year.

Bull is modelled after the 1988 Operation Cactus, in which Indian authorities provided assistance to the Maldivian government. Following a coup attempt on November 3, 1988, which was masterminded by businessman Abdullah Luthufi and the People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE), the Indian Armed Forces rescued the Maldivian government and helped it restore power. Bull’s non-production is reportedly due in part to the tense ties between the two nations in the start of 2024.
Strangely, a second movie on this occurrence was supposed to be created two or three years ago. Even this project, which went by the name Bull, was abandoned. In October 2021, the movie was formally announced. Guilty By Association’s Amar Butala and Garima Mehta, together with Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, were to produce it.
Set to direct for the first time was Aditya Nimbalkar, who has worked as an assistant on several Shahid Kapoor films, including Haider (2014) and Kaminey (2009). Captain Farukh Bulsara of Operation Cactus was to be portrayed by Shahid Kapoor in an acting role. Without a doubt, Salman would also appear in Karan Johar’s movie in the same position.
Although there are still indications indicating that it might begin in early 2025, many in the sector have already given up. It is now unknown who will play the much sought-after part and whether Bull is ever created.
